Coincidence

Have you ever had something happen like this:
  • You wake up with a song in your head. An obscure one. When you turn on the radio, it's the first song you hear.
  • You see a Q-Bert sticker on the sidewalk. "Huh," you think to yourself, "I have't thought about Q-Bert in a long time." Then half an hour later, a friend mentions how much she wishes Q-Bert would make a comeback (without you bringing it up first!).
  • You hear a rarely-used word. So rare that I can't even think of an example right now. Then 4 seconds later, you read that same exact rare word.

Well get this. I got caught up on my Google reader, and one of the posts was on Pioneer Woman's blog. "Meh," I thought, "looks like a dumb book." Don't worry, I think that a lot. I'm picky.

Directly after reading that post, I went into the Secret Inner Workings area of the library. And what was the first book staring at me from the shelving area? That's right, it was the exact one Ree had been writing about on her blog. Weird. I've never heard of this book before, and there are only four copies in the entire South Central Library System. What are the chances?

Weird!

The cool thing about Q-Bert is he works on so many levels.

(hat tip to my friend Ryan Williams.)

Here's what happened to me last night: I called my father to wish him a happy birthday. Asked him if he had a good day and he responds with "any day above ground is a good day." After our conversation, I watched an episode of "Dead Like Me" in which a character said the EXACT same thing.
