Laminated Asparagus
Karl's parents gave us a food laminator (I don't know what they're really called... Food Sealer? Vac 'n Seal?), and I used it last weekend to laminate about eleven of the twelve pounds of asparagus I bought at the farmer's market. The laminator is totally amazing. I thought it was going to be kind of questionable, but I already am in love with it after just using it once. It sucks all the air out of the bags, and it heat-seals them.. perfect for freezing! No ice crystals, no freezer burn, nothing but awesomely preserved asparagus! Yum!

You can do it if you TRI!
My friend Amanda and I did a triathlon in Green Bay this weekend. Here we are, showing off our numbers...
After the race, we went to IHOP to refuel. We saw some Packers there, which Karl loved, of course. I was more interested in my pancakes.
It was super cold on Sunday, and the swim was outdoors. So so so cold. Before we started, all the racers were waiting on the sand by the lake, and we were all freezing cold and wearing swimming suits. Amanda and I could not feel our feet. The race officials made all these announcements, ending with, "And now, the National Anthem." And I swear the singer could not possibly have sung any slower.

Fast Lane
Last weekend, my friend Amanda and I ran a marathon. We made little gift bags for each other for before the race. Amanda gave me awesome goodies, like a "fuel belt" that keeps your race number on without pins, nut rolls (the perfect running snack), and special shoe laces for the triathlon we're doing in a couple of weeks. In Amanda's bag, I put trail mix, Icy-Hot, a PowerBar, nail polish (color: Fast Lane), Five Star Bars, and these stained glass Fisher Price little people I made for her:

The marathon was totally awesome. It was very long, and I would have liked to stop running at mile 20... or 15... or 5. But we kept going and we made it! I am so proud of us. I would never have finished (or started) if it weren't for Amanda.
